Homelessness & Shelter Programmes
It is a disturbing fact that cities and semi urban areas are holding more human beings than rural areas in the present decade. This increased migration into cities is contributing to the emergence of slums and increased incidence of homelessness. Homelessness is clearly associated with lack of ownership of land. When people are displaced by mammoth government sponsored projects like dams and power stations, the rehabilitation programmes always create a sizable homeless population.

Housing projects by FWF are providing institutional support for individuals and families, technology transfer on low cost housing making user of local resources, and community housing. Community housing is a concept based on partial ownership of land and building. Strengthening of community units (microfinance units) is the first step in the process. Community unit will be managing the construction process. When it is completed, the same will be managed and maintained by these units. Investment is attracted from different sources for this process.

Retirement homes
Retirement homes for elderly people is yet another portfolio of FWF. Elderly people being the most neglected of the society, shelter and care would be a priority.
