Communication Schemes

Communication is a subset of Rural Infrastructure Development Programme (RIDP) and for the current year, FWF is focussing its attention in communication. This area covers installation of communication devises which run on renewable energy. Non-availability of energy being the major hindrance for developmental initiatives in rural areas, identification avenues for producing energy locally, (like installation of solar panels or wind turbines) is the first stage of the project.

Phase two offers setting up of amenities like public telephone booth, community hall with television sets, computer centre with internet access etc. Participatory approach is very much sought even from the planning stage of the projects as FWF strongly believes that unless the beneficiary community is owning the project, successful future management of the project will be under question.
